Andrea Kavanagh, a visual artist based in Dublin who graduated NCAD in Visual Arts Practice 2019. She is an award-winning artist. Her work explores ways of seeing and experiencing form. It connects the delicate medium of porcelain with the natural systems that surround us.
Her practice draws on themes of biodiversity, the Anthropocene, and motherhood. It also incorporates movement, reflection, and transformation. She is deeply engaged with ecological and biological structures. The inherent fragility of porcelain mirrors the tension between delicacy and resilience which is also found in nature. This quality has led to an ongoing exploration of suspension, balance, and motion within her sculptural works.
Andrea is particularly interested in how sculpture can evoke interconnectedness, highlighting the spirituality within natural forms. She continues to seek new ways to engage the viewer through movement. She creates works that are not only seen but felt. These works shift perception and deepen awareness of the living world. Her work ranges from site specific installations to gallery exhibitions and commissions. In her recent work, Andrea uses machine-cut and polished acrylic discs. She also uses fishing line to assemble her delicate forms.
Andrea has exhibited in many group exhibitions in Dublin and around the country. A highlight was being awarded The ESB Moran Award for Outstanding Sculpture at 192nd RHA Annual exhibition. She received this award for her work “Inner Sphere” in 2022. She was also shortlisted for The RCSI Irish Times Art Award 2022. Andrea recently exhibited two new works in The 195th RHA Annual Open exhibition May – August 2025.

Other notable exhibitions include Boyle Arts Festival 2023 “Connections” group exhibition shown at King House. She has been exhibiting at Sculpture in Context, Botanic Gardens, Dublin, since 2019. She has participated in all exhibitions, including this year, 2025. She also exhibited at all three ArtRiddler exhibitions from 2022 to 2024.
