About

Andrea Kavanagh, a visual artist based in Dublin who completed three years in Visual Arts Practice at NCAD in 2019. An award-winning artist, her work explores ways of seeing and experiencing form, connecting the delicate medium of porcelain with the natural systems that surround us.
Drawing on themes of biodiversity, the Anthropocene, motherhood, movement, reflection, and transformation, her practice is rooted in a deep engagement with ecological and biological structures. The inherent fragility of porcelain mirrors the tension between delicacy and resilience which is also found in nature. This quality has led to an ongoing exploration of suspension, balance, and motion within her sculptural works.

Andrea is particularly interested in how sculpture can evoke interconnectedness, highlighting the spirituality within natural forms. She continues to seek new ways to engage the viewer through movement, creating works that are not only seen but felt, shifting perception and deepening awareness of the living world.

Her work ranges from site specific installations to gallery exhibitions and commissions.

Andrea has exhibited in many group exhibitions in Dublin and around the country and a highlight was being awarded The ESB Moran Award for Outstanding Sculpture at The 192nd RHA Annual exhibition for her work “Inner Sphere” in 2022.
