Just a little spring update today. I was photographing some new work in the incredible sunshine at the weekend and thought I’d share a few images today of my recent progress.
I have been busy making new work in the last few months, trying out some new ideas, new techniques , being inspired by looking around the forests and beaches that are my happy hunting ground and inspiration for my practice.
As an artist you just need time and space to create uninterrupted and I was lucky to be able to avail of the resources of The Fire Station Artists studios, a centrally located resource for visual artists to book into and use their fantastic facilities in Dublin city.

A few images here of me working in The Fire Station studios. One is of me applying transparent glazing to the edge of a bisque fired work which is a larger and more convoluted organic shape for me. On the high fire this form will most likely close over more, which is what im aiming for here.

The other image is me very carefully sanding a large piece of work in between firings. I sand work to get a smoother surface. This last piece was very challenging and my largest individual piece of sculpture to date. Looking forward to fully sharing some of my new work soon.

And as i visit scenic landscapes as an artist, I am struck at this time of year by the beautiful birdsong, its heart warming in these troubling times to hear this wonderful cacophony fill the air especially in the forests. 🎶
I recommend the Merlin Bird ID App by Cornell for identification of particular birds and their song, it’s really quite addictive learning the birdsongs.
